April 13th 1975

lebanon_pol_2002[1]On a sunny day

Clouds silently came

As gunshots broke

The fragile silence

Of a new-born country

Blood flew where the sun

Used to shine

Dead bodies replaced

The many bodies

That filled, that filled

The many cities

Of a diminutive country

Tears replaced the sun rays

The night was suddenly

Nights and days

Silence came and took

Joy’s place in these towns

These villages, these mountains

The waltz of many coffins

Replaced the villages’ waltzes

Why is there pain?

Why is there despair?

Why is a dove so vain?

Why does only blood fill the air?
