Sugar waltz

The sugar waltzes freely

In an corpulent kid’s body

As he swings gently and slowly

On a greasy sidewalk

People die everyday

And we ask ourselves

Who are they?

Where we too late?

Or are this century’s genocides

Slowly starting in our foolish minds?

When is somebody somewhere

Going to open our eyes

To this whimper of silent despair

The sugar waltz is slowing down

As the last kid on earth

Closes his dying eyes

For the last time.
